DefExpo India 2018, the tenth in the series of biennial Land, Naval and Internal Homeland Security Systems Exhibition, will be held at Arulmigu Nithyakalyana Perumal Temple, Thiruvidanthai, Thiruporur Taluk, Kancheepuram, East Coast Road, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India between 11 - 14 April 2018. Details of SIDM activities at DefExpo 2018 are as follows

11 April 2018: 1500 Hrs – 1730 Hrs

Session I - Changing Head Winds to Tail winds: Enablers for Enhancing Foreign Direct Investment (FDI)

The country has attracted just Rs 1.17 crore as foreign direct investment in the defence production sector under the “Make in India” framework in the last four years despite the Government liberalising the FDI policy and abolishing the Foreign Investment Promotion Board. Attraction of FDI is an important factor in establishing India as a Defence Manufacturing Hub and therefore needs to be given adequate attention and must be our focus.

The discussion will focus on attracting more FDI, establishment of supply chains, offset as a means for FDI, and implementation of policy issues.

Session II - Seminar on ‘Designing Solutions to Battlefield Necessities: The Warrior Speak’

Officers from the three Defence Services will share their operational experiences and lessons learnt with a view to throw up challenges to the Industry and Academia to come up with high technology solutions.

Session III - Felicitation of Women Achievers

SIDM will felicitate outstanding women achievers, nominated ‘from the three services.

Defence Production Policy & State Defence Industrial Policies: A Special Session with the Policy Drivers

The Defence Production Policy is under revision and Defence Industrial Policy is under formulation in the two states where the Defence Industrial Corridor has been announced. The discussion is to be based as a Question & Answer Session with the Secretaries with a view to exchange ideas and collate suggestions for formulation of the Defence Production Policy and State Defence Industry Incentives.
