Seminar on Technology Infusion & Indigenisation Plans of the Indian Air Force

Event Information:

  • Fri, Jul 27 2018
  • Air Force Auditorium, Subroto Park, New Delhi

IAF is in the process of acquiring a host of platforms and systems to boost its operational capabilities. The technologies and capabilities that IAF needs in next 15 years are depicted in ‘Technology Perspective and Capability Roadmap (TPCR)’ published by HQ IDS. The new ‘Make’ procedure can be the catalyst for realizing the vision behind ‘Make in India’ and a host of these capabilities and products can be sourced from the Indian industry.

Life cycle management of existing IAF’s assets is also highly dependent on foreign OEMs for spares and Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul (MRO) support. With the continual growth of Indian Aviation industry, there is a scope to converge IAF’s requirements and Indian industry’s capabilities.

The Strategic Partnership Chapter and the simplified Make II procedure in DPP 2016 are major catalysts for realisation of the vision of ‘Make in India’. The draft Defence Production Policy -2018 has listed thirteen goals and objectives, out of which eight are related to Aerospace. Therefore, Aerospace segment in the near future can be the sector for transformation of defence manufacturing in India. To tap this unrealized potential, IAF in collaboration with the Society of Indian Defence Manufacturers (SIDM) is organising a one day seminar on 27 Jul 2018 at Air Force Auditorium, Subroto Park, New Delhi.

The objectives of the seminar are listed below :
