Workshop on “Doing Business in Indian Defence Sector”
The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) along with Society of Indian Defence Manufacturers (SIDM) jointly organised a workshop on Defence Procurement Procedures at Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh on June 7, 2019.
The workshop was addressed by Rear Admiral Pritam Lal (Retd.), Principal Adviser, SIDM. During his presentation, he emphasised on how to do business in Defence and gave a comprehensive overview of the Indian Defence Sector and shared with participants the opportunities for the industry in Defence. He also explained the size of the defence market in India, the landscape of the Indian defence industry and shared a long-term perspective on business in the Indian defence Sector. He also briefed the participants about DPP 2016, categorization of procurement schemes, procurement functions from RFI to contract etc.
Mr. J Srinviasa Raju, Convenor, CII AP Defence & Aerospace Panel, Mr. K V V Raju, Chairman, CII Visakhapatnam Zone & CEO, Granules Ominichem Pvt. Ltd also spoke at the workshop.
Rear Admiral Sanjay Datt, Chief Staff Officer (Technical), Eastern Naval Command while delivering his special address spoke about various naval projects and opportunities for the Indian Industry, especially MSMEs. He also spoke on the Indian Navy indigenisation plan 2015-30. During the interaction, presentations were also made by officers of the Indian Navy on MAKE Procedures, Indian Navy’s requirements under MAKE-II and Technology Development Fund (TDF).
