Compendium Problem Definition Statement 2020

Army Design Bureau (ADB), Indian Army jointly with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and the Society of Indian Defence Manufacturers (SIDM) organized the Army Technology Seminar (ARTECH) with the theme ‘Technologies for Non – Contact Warfare’ on 23 December 2019 at Manekshaw Centre, Swarna Jayanthi Marg, Delhi Cantt, New Delhi. The Compendium of Problem Statements/Innovations was released by Gen Bipin Rawat, COAS, during the plenary session. The Compendium illustrates Indian Army’s problem statements that the Industry can provide solutions to. The COAS felicitated the Innovators/Achievers from industry, academia and the services with the ‘ADB Awards of Excellence’. An exhibition, inaugurated by the COAS, showcasing industry capabilities and Service innovations was also held alongside the seminar.

DEFCOM INDIA 2019

DEFCOM 2019 is jointly organized by the Corps of Signals of Indian Army, Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and the Society of Indian Defence Manufacturers (SIDM) and was held on 26 and 27 November 2019 at Manekshaw Centre, New Delhi. “Communications as a Decisive Catalyst for Jointness” was selected as the key theme for the conference. The journal for DEFCOM 2019, which is a compendium of the selected papers around the conference theme, was released. An exhibition, inaugurated by the Chief Guest, showcasing the industry capabilities and products was also held alongside the conference.

NAVARMS 2019 Technical Journal & Compendium

Admiral Karambir Singh, PVSM, AVSM, ADC, Chief of the Naval Staff released the ‘NAVARMS 2019 Technical Journal & Compendium’ with theme ‘Make in India - Fight Category: Opportunities and Imperatives’ in the inaugural session of NAVARMS 2019 held on 12 December 2019 at IDSA, New Delhi. The compendium comprises of 49 Technical papers from Indian and Foreign Industry representatives, Indian Navy Officers , R&D Institutes along with the synopsis of the presentations made during the plenary sessions at NAVARMS 2019.

ADB Compendium of Problem Definition Statements Volume IV (2019)

The compilation of the fourth volume of ‘Problem Statements’ by the Indian Army through the Army Design Bureau is a commendable effort to share its requirements with the academia and the defence industrial base for creating indigenous solutions. This compendium is an outcome of detailed interactions carried out with major stakeholders including Army personnel deployed in field and forward areas, training institutions and planning establishments of the country. This fourth volume comprises of 20 problem statements, which are in addition to the 130 problem statements released in the first (50), second (28) and third (52) volumes released in 2016, 2017 and 2018 respectively.

Compilation of Research Projects of Academic Institutions on Defence Sector

With an aim to identify research projects of the Academia that could be potentially commercialised by the defence industry, SIDM took upon itself to produce a compilation of Research Projects by Academia in the defence sector. In this compilation, an effort has been introduced to also highlight dual benefits accruing, if any, out of the project for the civil society too. In the first edition, 188 projects have been listed for the benefit of the Indian defence industry.

This compendium is an outcome of detailed interactions carried out with major stakeholders including Army personnel deployed in field and forward areas, training institutions and planning establishments of the country. The second volume comprises of 28 problems, which are in addition to the 50 problems released in the first volume. These problem statements provide a ready blue print to the industry and academia to understand and provide indigenous solutions incorporating the latest and future core technologies developed indigenously.

ADB Compendium of Future Core Technologies and Problem Definition Statements Volume I (2016)

The Compendium is an outcome of detailed iterations carried out with major stakeholders, namely, the Field Army, Training Institutions and Planning Establishments. The ‘Felt Needs’ and ‘Future Core Technologies’ as pertaining to various domains have been dwelled upon appropriately for all stakeholders to explore suitable solutions. These include Armoured Fighting Vehicles, Night Vision & Power Packs / Engines, Combat Soldier, Artillery, Combat Engineering : Future Technologies, Information & Communication Technology, Army Air Defence and Army Aviation. The compendium also includes 50 Problem Definition Statements related to these technologies.
