Compendium Problem Definition Statement 2020

Army Design Bureau (ADB), Indian Army jointly with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and the Society of Indian Defence Manufacturers (SIDM) organized the Army Technology Seminar (ARTECH) with the theme ‘Technologies for Non – Contact Warfare’ on 23 December 2019 at Manekshaw Centre, Swarna Jayanthi Marg, Delhi Cantt, New Delhi. The Compendium of Problem Statements/Innovations was released by Gen Bipin Rawat, COAS, during the plenary session. The Compendium illustrates Indian Army’s problem statements that the Industry can provide solutions to. The COAS felicitated the Innovators/Achievers from industry, academia and the services with the ‘ADB Awards of Excellence’. An exhibition, inaugurated by the COAS, showcasing industry capabilities and Service innovations was also held alongside the seminar.

The compilation of the fourth volume of ‘Problem Statements’ by the Indian Army through the Army Design Bureau is a commendable effort to share its requirements with the academia and the defence industrial base for creating indigenous solutions. This compendium is an outcome of detailed interactions carried out with major stakeholders including Army personnel deployed in field and forward areas, training institutions and planning establishments of the country. This fourth volume comprises of 20 problem statements, which are in addition to the 130 problem statements released in the first (50), second (28) and third (52) volumes released in 2016, 2017 and 2018 respectively.
