Gujarat is emerging as a strategic Defence manufacturing hub with rapidly expanding Industrial eco-system in the State is supported by TASL, Adani Defence & Aerospace, Jaivel Aerospace (Sanand), HAL, L&T Defence, BDL, PTC Industries, and several MSME. Institutions like National Forensic Sciences University and Raksha Rashtriya University have emerged as knowledge and Innovations centers for strategic matters. This ecosystem is further strengthened by premier academic institutions including IIM Ahmedabad and IIT Gandhinagar, a well robust infrastructure of Air, Sea and Land transportation Network , making it an ideal choice for “Make in India” initiatives to strengthen the National security.
With an expanding customer base and increasing procurement opportunities, the region presents significant business potential for MSMEs and Startups in the states to become active contributors to India’s Defence manufacturing growth story.
Towards this, Department of Defence Production, Ministry of Defence, Society of Indian Defence Manufacturers (SIDM) and Hindustan Aeronautics Limited supported by Confederation of Indian Industry are jointly organizing the Regional Defence MSME Conclave on 18th September, 2026 at Vadodara.
The objective of the Conclave is to encourage MSME and Start-ups in the State in the design, development, manufacturing, testing, and sustenance of Defence systems and technologies.

SIDM Delegation visit to 5 BRD & Air Force Station
Sulur, Coimbatore

SIDM is organising an Industry Delegation Visit to 5 Base Repair Depot (5 BRD) and Air Force Station Sulur, Indian Air Force, on 21 September 2026. The visit is being planned to facilitate direct interaction between IAF users and the Indian defence industry and provide participating companies an opportunity to gain a better understanding of the IAF’s operational requirements, maintenance and sustainment challenges, indigenisation priorities and potential business opportunities.
The delegation will visit 5 Base Repair Depot (5 BRD) during the first half of the day, followed by a post-lunch visit to Air Force Station Sulur. The visit to 5 BRD will provide industry members an opportunity to gain insights into aircraft maintenance, repair, overhaul, component-level support, testing and calibration requirements, as well as follow up on the maintenance-related problem statements shared during SANKALP 2026. The post-lunch visit to Air Force Station Sulur, a significant operational IAF station and a key operational base for the indigenous Tejas fighter programme, will provide an opportunity to understand operational, technical and sustainment requirements and explore potential areas for indigenisation and industry participation.

Indian Defence Industry Delegation Visit to Vienna, Austria
23 – 24 September 2026
The Society of Indian Defence Manufacturers (SIDM), in association with the Embassy of India, Vienna, and the Department of Defence Production, Ministry of Defence, is organising an Indian Defence Industry Delegation Visit to Vienna, Austria, on 23–24 September 2026.
This initiative follows the signing of the Letter of Intent on Cooperation in Military Matters between India and Austria during the visit of the Austrian Chancellor to India in April 2026. The visit aims to strengthen bilateral defence industrial cooperation and facilitate business, technology, and industrial partnerships between Indian and Austrian defence companies.
The proposed two-day programme will include:
• 23 September 2026: India–Austria Defence Industry Conference and B2B meetings.
• 24 September 2026: Visits to leading Austrian defence and industrial facilities.
A copy of the preliminary programme for both days is enclosed for your reference.
To facilitate focused and meaningful business interactions, the Embassy of India, Vienna has shared a directory of Austrian defence and related industry. Members are requested to carefully review the directory and, while registering, indicate the Austrian companies they would be interested in meeting during the visit. This information will enable the Embassy to mobilise the relevant Austrian participants and organize targeted B2B meetings aligned with the business interests of the participating Indian companies.
