Indian Defence Industry Delegation Visit to Madrid, Spain

09th July 2026

The Society of Indian Defence Manufacturers (SIDM), in association with the Embassy of India in Madrid, Spain, is organising an Indian Defence Industry Delegation Visit to Madrid, Spain, on 9th July 2026.

This visit coincides with the India–Spain Workshop on “Make in India in Defence”, being organised by the Embassy of India in collaboration with the Spanish Confederation of Business Organizations (CEOE). The workshop aims to bring together key Indian and Spanish stakeholders to deepen defence cooperation and explore new opportunities for partnership.

The objectives of the workshop include apprising Spanish companies of opportunities available in India’s Uttar Pradesh Defence Industrial Corridor and Tamil Nadu Defence Industrial Corridor, encouraging them to establish manufacturing facilities in India, and exploring collaboration in R&D, manufacturing, and technology transfer. In addition, India’s expertise in small arms and ammunition will also form part of the engagement themes, offering further scope for collaboration.

The workshop is expected to witness participation from over 50 Spanish defence companies, including major industry leaders such as Airbus Spain, Navantia, and Indra, along with dignitaries from the Spanish Government, defence establishments, and R&D institutions.

India and Spain already share significant cooperation in the defence sector, including the flagship Make in India programme for the C-295 transport aircraft. This visit seeks to further build upon these strong foundations and expand avenues for industrial collaboration.

The event structure will include discussions on the current status of India–Spain defence cooperation, the implications of the recently signed India–EU Defence and Strategic Partnership Agreement (27 January 2026), detailed presentations on Indian defence corridors and incentives, and panel discussions on potential collaboration opportunities.

The Embassy has also offered to facilitate delegation visits to key defence facilities in Madrid and Seville, providing Indian industry members with exposure to Spain’s advanced capabilities in aerospace MRO, shipbuilding, navigation systems, cybersecurity, simulators, and other areas of mutual interest. This will enable SIDM members to explore concrete avenues for industrial engagement and technology partnerships.

SIDM encourages its members to participate in this important delegation, which offers a valuable platform to engage with leading Spanish OEMs and explore co-development and co-production opportunities. Interested members are requested to complete their registration through the link below by 15th June 206, to ensure timely visa processing.

Aligned with the theme “Building Resilient Global Defence Supply Chains”, DEFCORE 2026 is positioned as a focused, outcome-driven international platform dedicated to India’s rapidly expanding defence and aerospace components and sustenance ecosystem.

India’s defence and aerospace sector is undergoing a structural transformation—driven by “Make In India” with sustained policy reforms for EODB, capital allocations, indigenisation, establishing defence industrial corridors, and increasing integration into global supply chains through Exports.

The lessons emerging from the current geo-political landscape and prolonged global conflicts have underscored a defining reality — national security is intrinsically linked to supply chain resilience. Sustained conflicts demand not only military preparedness, but also assured, resilient, and self-reliant supply chains capable of supporting the nation over extended durations. Alongside new acquisitions, defence sustenance, upgrades, MRO, spares, and lifecycle support through indigenous solutions have emerged as strategic priorities, creating long-term business opportunities for capable manufacturers and technology partners.

DEFCORE 2026 is focussed to address this criticality, converging senior leadership from the Ministry of Defence, Armed Forces, procurement agencies, DPSUs, global and Indian OEMs, system integrators, MSMEs, start-ups, and qualified suppliers on a unified platform to enable direct engagement, early visibility on requirements for sustained operations through  localisation, supplier development, technology integration and export-oriented manufacturing.

The event will feature a comprehensive exhibition, high-level conference sessions, curated B2B meetings, and structured industry–government interactions—making it a definitive platform for organisations seeking to build resilient supply chains, support India’s self-reliance goals, and participate in both domestic and global defence and aerospace programmes.
